Albatera is the northernmost municipality of the province of Alicante, and shares borders with Crevillente and those of the Hondón valley, which has proved a popular location for expatriates from northern Europe. For many the main attractions of Albatera and its neighbouring municipalities are the clean air, the wide open sky and the impressive landscape.Albatera is bursting with unique landscapes that are calling out to be captured on camera. In the north stand the mountains of the Sierra de Crevillente, in the foothills is the Reina del Rosario mountain park. At the same time the recommended walking routes within the boundaries of Albatera include the PR-V-180 path, which runs from the outskirts of the town right over the top of the mountains and into the valley of Hondón de los Frailes and Hondón de las Nieves. Albatera town has lots of traditional Spanish bars and restaurants too where you can sample typical Spanish fayre of Tapas and Tortillas amongst the Spanish community. You will find the prices very reasonable too as this is not a tourist area. The market in the town of Albatera is Thursday but the indoor one is open most days. There is also a large market on the outskirts of Albatera just as you come over the motorway.
In the center of Albatera, you’ll find Santiago Apóstol church, whose construction started in the 17th century. You'll have a great time exploring the towers and basements, and gazing at the beautiful organ. Also popular are the 30,000m2 Parque de la Huerta, an area of meadows, bushes, waterfalls
