San Javier is located in a privileged corner in the South east of Spain,along the Costa Calida in the province of Murcia. The city of Murcia is only about 40 minutes from here, while Alicante and its international airport is less than one hour from the town.

San Javier is famed for its summer festivals and the numerous beaches located along the Mar Menor.

Boasting both Mar Menor and Mediterranean beaches San Javier has two distinct sections of beaches, one being in Santiago de la Ribera, close to the main centre of San Javier town, all of which are Mar Menor beaches, and the other on the opposite side of the Mar Menor on the spit of land called La Manga de Mar.

Where San Javier and its Ribera have an accredited personality is in sports activities, taking advantage of the exceptional conditions of the salt lake, almost all water sports can be practiced, and at all levels, from learning to the highest competition.

San Javier has one of the best and most complete sports centers in the Region of Murcia to practice all kinds of sports. Its facilities (covered pavilion, soccer fields, athletics track, jogging track, sports courts, quick and clay tennis courts, and a long etcetera) can be used by renting, or by participating in the courses that are organized during all year.

There is also a lovely indoor shopping centre (Dos Mares) open every day with a cinema, food court and a great range of shops.
