El Moncayo beach has a lifeguard, loungers for hire, and taps for washing sandy feet. On the beach of El Moncayo there was once a settlement from Roman times where trade was conducted in, among other things, salt and fish. The remains that we still see on the beach are from an Islamic ribat from the 10th-11th centuries. The building consisted of, among other things, a prayer cell with a wall facing Mecca.

Guardamar del Segura is located between Santa Pola and Torrevieja,and is approximately 45 minutes drive from the international airport of Alicante. The resort town has been developed directly on the beach. Inland towns and villages are easily accessible with the excellent local road network.

Guardamar is also home to the Reina Sofia and Alfonso XIII parks, ideal for a leisurely stroll or for cycling. Here you will find lots of wildlife – squirrels, swans, birds and fishes, which all make the local park environment a place for nature lovers.

For sports enthusiasts:there is every imaginable water sport such as sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, underwater diving, canoeing, and jet skiing, amongst others. Plus the Marina de las Dunas, at the mouth of the river, accommodates 498 moorings.
