Valverde (in Valencian, La Vallverda) is a hamlet in the municipality of Elche, in the province of Alicante, Spain. It is divided into Valverde Alto and Valverde Bajo.
It is located east of the municipality of Elche, bordering the districts of Els Bassars, Torrellano, Perleta, and Las Bayas, as well as the municipality of Santa Pola. The Santa Pola road passes through La Vallverda Baixa, near the only palm grove in both districts, where the Río Safari Elche zoo is located.
Valverde is notable for its rural character and Mediterranean-style agriculture, particularly the cultivation of almond and pomegranate trees. Over the last decade, Valverde has grown both in population and urbanized area. A social center, including the OMAC offices, was recently built, and a new sports center is planned.
The Patron Saint Festivities of Valverde are celebrated in honor of their patron saint, Saint Anne, in the weeks leading up to July 26th, culminating in a procession through the city's main streets.
Among the patron saint festivities, two days are particularly noteworthy: the band, where the entire town takes to the streets in costume for a pleasant and fun afternoon. And the night of the performances, where some residents of the town, with a touch of artistry and a lot of courage, takes to the stage in the Ermita square to perform.
